Belonging Is the First Curriculum

As we step into a new year and a new semester, we begin with identity. We begin with culture. We begin with the stories that shape us. Children learn best when they feel rooted — in who they are, where they come from, and the traditions that give their families meaning.
This week, the BEAM Movement is focusing on cultural grounding and identity as the foundation for learning. Because before we talk about skills, systems, or transformation, we must first honor the truth: learning begins with belonging.
